A woman owning a Charger is a MAJOR turn on to me + I remember what you look like, so let the leg humping begin. ;)

Sorry for the cheese but the it is your money & your choice as been said by many members here in other posts so your not alone. Most of those posts were about making RT clones(fakes) and a few Generals. With the crazy prices a paint job and some bolts will not matter if you ever decide to sell. My GF loved my Charger but once I take her for a ride that might change.
You should tell your BF that alot of guys on this site are willing to make the drive to see you and he has a special woman MOST of us wishes were ours.

Take it easy on me guys..I am just stating it how it is.

Its funny that the guy who brings all this up has a problem with someone making money because of the car.  When this person keeps ripping people off who buys parts from him.  I mean really Joe why don't you worry about all your problems first then when you get all the people that you have wronged straightened out then come and complain about something worth wild.

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

You gotta understand the story behind this one.

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

I just pre-order the 7th and last season of the dukes from Amazon. They are offering it for $28 a very good price with no shipping cost or tax. It won't be coming out until Dec. 5 2006 , that seems like forever.

just don't paint the front bumper orange. i've seen a few of those that were. Looks crapy.
OUCH!!!!!!!!!!!  Well, just your opinion and you're certainly entitled to it but......I've gotten tons of compliments on the painted front bumper of my GL. I was going to swap in a 69 front because I thought the chrome 70 bumper was too much but my friend Pete suggested the painted bumper and I went with it. That was 3 years ago. Like I said tons of compliments and now Steve Strope is doing his 70 Charger project....with a painted bumper!!!!  Hmmmm. Anyway, to each his own, but to me, it not only looks great, but was way cheaper than chrome.

Hey Al, I know alot of us in the CGLFC love the car too.  Everyone has said that is the best looking 70 General Lee...including me. ;)

SORRY, didn't mean to bash your Charger. What I meant was, I don't like ANY painted bumpers, or the rubber bumpers. I like chrome. I saw a '70 GL at last years Nats (maybe yours?) and it's a hot car.The chrome loop bumper is really sweet, don't hide it.

Dave

No hard feelings man. Like I said, you're entitled to your opnion. To be honest, I was never a fan of the chrome loop bumper anyway...just my opinion....and you know what they say about opinions. I think they should have offered the painted/elastomeric bumpers from the factory on the 70 models.Anyway, painted bumpers on 70 Chargers....may be the start of a new trend...and I'm fine with it...just remember who had it first!!!!!!  ;)

Looks good! Im doing my '70 death proof replica this way! Leave it a '70 - Be different!

I am a woman...my boobs are real...and my 1970 Charger will be a General Lee clone one day.   :nana:

In all seriousness...it is like I have told people around here...until they pay my car payment on the Charger...they have no say on what the correct thing is.  I know I will get slack from the mopar fans for it is a tragedy with some to do a clone...and I know with some of the GL people they will give me slack for I do not plan to have it one hundred percent like the GL.  (I refuse to change my front grill).  But it is my car...it is only paint...and I am going to have fun with it.  :)

I refuse to get implants though...  lol  And hell I already get slack from some guys for BEING a woman who owns a Charger.

Nothing wrong with that? Single? lol. You can park your '70 beside mine  :2thumbs:

When I purchased my 70 R/T in 1999,(oh, I can just hear another rant coming ) I had no intention of making a GL. That thought came as I was blocksanding the body in '03. It was supposed to be a FT6 medium tan car, white stripe and top, brown interior. When I got it, the car had been totally dissasembled, basically stripped of all useful parts and the drivetrain was long gone.

I almost dread bringing this topic back to life in any way, but whatever.

Initially, I was not going to do a GL clone on my '69. I wanted to do black on black or red with black interior and black top. My brother was a DOH fan and he wanted it to be 'Generalized' pretty much from the get-go, and I may have resisted him had we not seen some real GL's in California at the Warner back-lot in March 2004 (about a week or so after getting the Charger). I have to admit, I fell in love with it on that trip.

I do not fancy myself a 'typical' General Lee clone owner, but I think that there are more out there like me than some realize. I really don't like the show (void a hand full of episodes). I hate country music, think the antics of most DOH fans is embarrassing and almost feel pity for those mis-guided souls who treat the show as if it were real (the whole "do it for Uncle Jessie nonsense). I keep it as a GL for my own reasons, and if and when those reasons become invalid, it will become a regular Charger again.

Having said all of that, I am currently drooling over the concept of getting another Charger (or three), and right now if I found another GL clone that I could swing, I would have no problems in 'de-Generalizing' it. In fact, that is probably just what I would do. I have my General, now I covet having a normal Charger, not just the parade float that people just can't resist to take pics and want to hear the horn and such.

Should anybody else really complain what anybody else does with their cars? No. On a purely personal level, I think that no more Chargers should be destroyed (for Hollywood or otherwise), but who knows what the populace will demand (or allow)? The good part is that even if one is jumped now, with the amount of new sheet metal and frame parts in the pipe-line, almost nothing can be considered un-restorable. Just a matter of money and time.

SFRT

I hate the Dukes of Hazard. When that show was on television I was very young and very poor and driving a POS '65 vw. I would have given anything for a nice musclecar and remember my stomach turning whenever I saw the show as they ruined car after car. not just chargers, but all the other muscle cars as well. It used to make me sick,

Whenever I see a GL all I can think of is flashing to some scene in the show where some cool musclecar gets dented, rolled, destroyed.  That show was the opposite of cool, it was a slaughter.

To me it symbolizes total disrespect for the golden age of american cars of every type.

If your a real DOH fan go outside and toss a cinderblock through the windshield of your GL then drive it into a tree, THAT is the 'true spirit' of that show. No one involved in the production cared about the cars, they where just sacrificed to entertain couch potatoes.

Deathproof aggravated me to no end for the exact same reason. I didnt cry too much over the Nova, but the destruction of a Kowalski Challenger? made me want to take a lead pipe to Tarantino's drag queen face.

Well...I'll say this....The Dukes of Hazzard  is what got me into the Mopar hobby in the first place as with a lot of other people I'm sure.   I'm not sure of the "secret"   you're talking about, but if you are referring to "LEE1"  The car is undergoing a total restoration back to the original General Lee uniform it wore in the opening credits and the first episode "One Armed Bandits"  The car is very rough.   Travis Bell  does have an obsession with the General Lee....but.....so do I.   I think it's great that he is taking the very first General Lee  and restoring it.   Damn...at least somebody is trying to preserve the original.   Can you imagine what that car will be worth when it is finished???  If I had his resources....not to mention his bank account in order to do this....I'd probably be doing the same thing.   All I have is a replica, but it's good enough for me.......And......I don't think that Road Runner wearing the Generals colors  looks right at all   that's just my personal opinion though.

There wasn't much left of the original GL. Most of it will be some other car........but somebody with too much money will buy it anyway because the original cowl is on the car. It's kind of hard to believe John made an ass of himself trying to sing on top of the buckling roof. I think he is obsessed with himself and he thinks everyone else is suppose to be too :eyes:

i dont know how everyone feels about all of this "secret" dukes of hazzard talk about finding new cars but man i really think some of these guys have totally forgotten about reality!! the dukes are cool dont get me wrong but i just dont understand how some people have got to the point that this stuff rules their lives almost like they really believe it was for real or something!! i mean people it was a show and it was cool but come on is was just that a SHOW!!!! ::) ::) ::) ::) ::)
I agree
People pay alot of money for "bragging rights"seems totally stupid to me as well.Would i take a 318 dukes car over a Hemi-Cuda or b body hemi/440 six pack?Yes,I would then sell it to someone that has more money than sense and buy 2 of each with the proceeds :icon_smile_big:

and what's SO ironic about that statement is that MOST of the general lee/dukes crowd doesn't have ANY money or a pot to piss in. all they talk about is how they wish they could afford a piece of a grill, let alone a 69 charger. but then there are the few that go to extremes with their money.. it's getting to that "middle age crisis" here soon, as most dukes lovers are already in their 30's to 40

No harm, no foul. If they want to spend most of their time and money on DOH, so be it. It doesn't bother any of us that don't do it.

Better to have that kind of hobby then to rape dead animals or something disgusting like that.

Mike DC

DOH just has "fanboys" now to some extent.  (Like myself as much as anyone.)

Years ago, the DOH hobby was basically a small sub-group of the Charger hobby.

Now it has become more of a stand-alone fan base for a media thing.
Like the other rabid movie/TV/comic/videogame groups.
