B5 Charger

Went to my favorite junk yard today and scored a 440.  I have been there several times but never stumbled accross it until today.  I haven't got a chance to check all of the stampings yet because it's still in the car.  I went ahead and bought it contingent upon it being what it's supposed to be which is a '68 440 magnum.  I'll check the numbers when I go to pick it up next week.  I got the motor and 727 tranny.  I'll post pics when it's pulled next week.   :icon_smile_big:

I won't be wronged, I wont be Insulted and I wont be laid a hand on. I don't do these things to others, and I require the same from them.

I want to know what is it in? 68 HP would be if OEM a GTX, Charger R/T or Coronet R/T. Then there is the C-body 440 HP called a TNT 440. Not sure if it's 350 HP rated 440 is called a 68 HP 440 or not.

Beside the far and few in between 440 Barracuda did I miss any?

PIC, I like to watch ;D

Somebody transplanted it into a '72 Satellite 4-door of all things.  That may explain why I overlooked it before.  The Satellite came with a 400 but I noticed that this motor was turquois instead of the blue.  When I asked the owner he filled in the blanks.  Asking price for the motor, trans and HP '72 exhaust manifolds was $250.00.   :o Bought it on the spot.  Looks like there will be another '69 R/T clone on the road.   ;D

I bought a 440 from a wrecker this year. I pulled the motor, then we negotiated after. I low balled him with $250 Canadian, he laughed and said all he wanted was $150. He was a chevy guy. I raped his salvage yard that day, filled up a grain truck full of parts.

Nice score!     :icon_smile_cool:

Never hurts to keep checking the same yards since they always get stuff in.   I went to a local yard and saw a 440 just sitting.   Asked the guy what the deal was and he said some guy cleaned out his garage and dropped it in the core pile.   He said $25!   :icon_smile_approve:   Best part is that it's a 73 steel crank, has an Edelbrock intake, and '67 HP 915 heads.
