How are you as a passenger?

What are you like when you are riding as a passenger with someone else?

As for me, I'm always stomping the imaginary brake peddle. I can't stand riding with anyone cause it drives me nuts :P The only acceptions are if I am riding with another truck driver. That for what ever reason doesn't bother me. What about you guys?

THE COLONEL

i like to be in control myself...no matter what car I'm in, but I always offer to drive if I go anywhere, even with friends.

I nap when the wife drives.

Closing my eyes helps avoid lots of arguments...

It depends on the driver. I can't ride shotgun with my wife, it absolutely drives me crazy. She even admits she can't drive very good in perfect conditions and if there's some added element such as darkness, bad weather or some cargo it gets even worse. If she has to be in the middle lane six miles away she'll get in that middle lane and do 50 mph the whole way while people pass her at 70. I really try to keep my mouth shut but it's not easy.

My brother is on the other end of the spectrum. He drives like a raped ape everywhere and crashes on a fairly regular basis, but fortunately he's only crashed once while I was with him. He thinks it's fun to get as close to the cars as possible when he changes lanes to pass. Of course that means there's little room for error and he's not nearly as good at driving as he thinks he is so he "magically" finds himself up over curbs, sidewalks and medians quite often. He gets an earful from me too once in a while but I really don't like riding with him often.

Most other people I ride with are pretty average to above average drivers (I work with a lot of people who drive big rigs) so I don't complain. I've discovered that most of the good drivers I ride with have about the same driving style as I do.

I am usually pretty good, but if I am not tired or anything, I usually like to do the driving.

Most of the time I use the imaginary pedals! If it is a long trip I just sleep to keep my blood pressure down! I also forget who's car I am in and do the old :fu: if someone does something stupid. I try to stay behind the wheel!

Id rather be driving myself but I do alright as a passenger as long as im up front. I tend to get a little car sick in the back. Definitly cant ride in the back of a minivan with no windows that roll down.  :puke:

Like Bull said, it depends on who's driving. My wife drives good, & I don't mind being a passenger with her. She sometimes ends up driving my Ram pick up with the 24' trailer behind it, & does fine. There's been a few people I've been with who literally scare the crap out of me, & I will not get back in the car with them under any circumstances. I'd walk barefoot in the snow before I would ever get into the car of 2 people I know, both of whom have wrecked more cars than some people have owned.   :o

My work is driving, so when I come home, I have no problem letting my wife do all the driving. Besides, She's actually a better driver than I am.  :2thumbs:

btw, Last time I drove our little Ford Ranger, I almost blew it up trying to double clutch it and "floating" the gears.  :rotz: :slap: :D

As a passenger, I am usually snoring. Riding and not driving puts me out like a candle in a tornado.

I hit the imagionary brakes, and am always scanning traffic, looking for idiots who don't think that street laws apply to them.  I hate not being the driver.

Bandit72

it depends, i don't get in cars with people who can't drive...but for the most part i don't care to much...now pulling  a trailer on the other hand it has to be me or josh (one of my buddys) none of my other friends can drive worth a snot with a trailer... :rotz:

I use the imagninary brake pedal alot when I am a passenger.  You should see my father-in-law though.  I took him for a ride in my Charger and scared the hell out of him.  LOL!  I think it took him a couple hours to relax his fingers after clawing my dash...I think he has a nervous twitch now too.  hehehe :smilielol:
