Hmmm- discovered my doors were originally green!

I took the old door seals off and put brand new ones on today.  As I was taking the old ones off, I noticed that beautiful shade of dark green underneath where the seals once were.  ^-^  I always knew that Danny Johnson found my car in pieces in Arizona.  Now this really confirms it, as I knew the original color to my car was Silver.

I've found the original color in the door jambs, as well as red paint, blue paint and then the latest- when I bought my Charger; Hemi-Orange.  :)

Looks as though my Charger has a cornucopia of colors in it's lifetime.  ;)

Ahh, but in her final version- she'll be Viper Silver Metallic! (won't be the Hemi-Orange Mistress then!)

Shakey,

Several of us on this site know who Danny Johnson is.   I bought my Charger from him two years ago.   He has a drop dead gorgeous hundred acre farm in the Tennessee hill country of Fayettville, just east of I-65.   Danny used to work for SWB (Southwestern Bell), but took an early retirement with a lofty severance pay.   He took that money and invested it in his dream.   To find classic 2nd Gen Chargers, as well as other B-Bodies from all over the country, bring them back to his farm where he rebuilds them and sells them to waiting MoPar fans.

Danny truely is a "miracle worker" when it comes to these cars.   The day my wife and I picked up the "Mistress", he had at least five other Chargers in various stages of repair.   One in particular, I couldn't believe he would work on, as it was really shot.   He found my Charger in pieces in Arizona and had it trailered back to his place where he set to put the pieces back together.   I fell in love with this car just on his discription of it alone, and decided to buy her- sight unseen!  I'll forever kick myself in the arse for not giving him the extra grand for the original 383 when I picked up the Charger that day.  At least I know where it is and who's Charger it sits in.

Danny often sends me pictures of the Chargers he has available at any given time.   He has a new shop (which I helped fund, no doubt!) at the bottom of his hilly farm, which is awesome!   He usually has at least half a dozen ready or very near ready for sale.   And he is VERY FAIR when it comes to price.

In case some of you might be interested, his e-mail address is;   dajohnson@vallnet.com

I can't say enough good about him.   Who here can actually SAY that about a guy who has sold you a car at any time, new or old?!

The guy that owned my '69 the longest swore it was all stock (I didn't buy it from him). When I was sanding the body I discovered my passenger side fender and valance was from a gold car and painted green to match many years ago.

You think its better to try and fix a door that has a small dent and a rust spot or to try and find a replacement one?

Why would you want anything else?  Just give me a Charger and I'll be happy.

How big is the rust spot?  Is it all the way through?  I hear that door skins aren't too expensive, but when you tie in priming and painting it can be a lot of money, compared to just fixing what you have.  It just depends.
