Does somebody know is its posible get a custom gear ratios  on a stock 727 tranny?

I was checking 4 speeds ratios and the 4th is very impressive... Some where I read 4th was less than 1:1

what about OD ? it is posible to install an OD on a stock 727 ?

really would like to get less than 1:1 somehow to highway and country trips, specially if I'm deciding change from 3:23 to 3:55 axle ratio

you could put a gearvendors OD units on.I believe it comes with a new tailshaft housing to replace your one you have now.

I don't know that i would bother to change from 3:23 to 3:55s.. There is little difference.. 3:91-4:10-4:30 then yes, big difference.  3:73s are available for 8.75. That you would notice...

www.Gearvenders.com  I have never heard anyone that was unhappy with that unit..  :2thumbs:

there will be some diff on gas mileage when I finally move to Europe ;). And who knows if I finally go with higher axle ratio ;). I have NOS 3:91 around, but 741 case :(.

Anyway would it be a very future project.

nothing wrong with a 741 case, most ring gear failures are due to retainer cap breakage/failure, not pinion breakage/failure.

Hey Nacho,   I'm not sure, but I think the 3:73s will fit the 741 case.

I wanted to mean that the 3:91 NOS gears I have are for 741... and even I can choose between 741 and 489 because have both cases, I will install 489. Originally my car had the 741, dunno why. The 489 case I will install was from a donor charger, same setup than mine except for axle case.
