My deck lid will not close after weather stripping installed?

Here we go,
  I just glued in some new weather stripping on the trunk of my 73' Rally Charger & I can't get the deck lid to latch all the way & close?
Can you adjust the lock piece on the deck lid? 
I know that I have the weather strip with no gap by the striker, I am told to cut the middle out to allow a gap, the gap ids the way the factory did it?
Could that cause the deck lid not to close?

Where did you get the weatherstripping from? Soffseal seems to be abit tall.  now SOFT SEAL seems to be decent. How tall is the seal?

you can adjust the trunk latch up, but will it be right? hard to say.

This is a simple problem to diagnose. Your old weatherstrip was probably beat. New weatherstrip is nice & thick, firmer like it should be. It will take a while to "seat" properly.

Yes, of course the latches are adjustable. Try adjusting the latch upward slightly. Maybe 1/16" - 1/8" tops. Just a little. Try closing the lid. Bet it closes nice now. Keep it that way for a month or so. Use the car. Then, lower the latch closer to back where it was.

I had the same problem. Just closed it and let it in the sun for a while to heat the car and it eventually  molded to the shape it needed.
