cody, i found some info that may be helpful http://www.4secondflat.com/rearendtech2.html but as far as the 7.1/4 and 8.1/4 rear ends go these are the numbers (7 1/4's) 2070051, 3507881, 3723675 and 8.1/4 rears: 2852905, 3723598, 3723599 so those numbers should tell you what you have. check it out  :2thumbs:

An 8 1/4 is fairly strong too.

I broke the spiders in one in my van, after quite a bit of a buse.  It was a fairly hot 400 BB (10:1 comp etc) and weighed a little over 5000 pounds.  I think it was the weight that broke it, more than the motor.

That said, the 8 1/4 will work in the short term.  An upgrade to any case of 8 3/4 will be more than fine. :Twocents:

ps... yes maxwedge cars came with what is the equivalent of the 741 case 8 3/4.

Well I plan on doing about a 700-1000k trip to Alberta to see someone when Im about 17-18 so I think Im gonna put a new rearend in it...dont wanna risk breaking the old one in the middle of nowhere. ;)
