I m putting my cluster together and I have a nice looking clock, well anyways I hooked it up to a battery to see if it worked, well it did sorta, it just ran fast,  the second hand spun around real quick. In the 2-3 minutes I had it hooked up,  like two hours passed on the clock.
Anyone have a clue why it does this?

Cant be fixed economically. You can convert the internals to quartz. Not a bad job.  If its a standard clock there is no soldering involved. Tach clock there is.  Call Instrument Services @ 800-558-2674. They sell the kits for 50.00.  They are thes uppliers for others that sell these conversions for 25.00 more. N-3085 for tachclock.  S3015 for standard clock.  2nd gen B body
