Back before we moved (about 6 years ago), some guy showed up in a pickup and offered to buy my Charger from us for $500 because he wanted to cut the sail panel and top quarter off of it for his wrecked 69. This happened right after we put about 2k in parts into it. My dad told him that it was worth $500 before we bought the grille, fenders and door for it. So the answer is no. He said ok and a few days later, he came back in his Ford Thunderbolt clone and offered to buy it for $700, my dad laughed at him and he never came back ;)

I think a lot of those ask to buy joes go around everywhere and use the same tactic hoping to snare another from a person that is hard up or don't know what they have. Then you see it on ebay.

I had "someone" on this site offer me $ 7 K for the R.R.

Were they from British Columbia?

you can't really blame someone for trying.  i bought my charger for 750 bucks and drove it home.  never hurts to ask.  all someone can say is no.

It gets irritating when every time you open your garage they come out of the woodwork. They always ask for way less than its worth. When you tell them its not for sale they keep hassling you. That's irritating. After about an hour though you can laugh about it, and the car is still in your garage and they go home empty handed.

I used to have people chase me down on foot in parking lots to try and ask to buy my cars. Thats when you speed up a little to make it harder to catch you before you slow down to dash their hopes with a big no.

I havent had that problem, I always open the garage.....once in a while I have the car in the driveway and last week, my 69 sat in the side yard for 2 days and nobody stops and asks. :2thumbs:

The last 3 cruise nights  and a show I have been to I have had people wanting to buy my Cutlass. A couple sounded interested when I shot them the price, and one guy left his number and said when I was ready let him know. It is the only car I have done now so I won't be selling anytime too soon unless I get a really tempting offer.

ya know with all the gearheads i was around this weekend not a single one asked to buy the car or made a stupid comment about the skunk, just alot very observent questions about details the avarage joe wouldn't ever dream of, the stupid stuff comes from folks off the street without a clue... I sure got alot of positive comments from the guys that know, and that feels great! even though the skunk is kinda' ratty and cobbled togeather they know better than to ask if it's for sale, they got their own projects and understand full well you can't really buy another man's pride and joy,.. the guy with the blown 300 must have told me five time he absolutly loved my Charger and the little kids crowded around the car with these awe struck faces peering into the interior... I took the son of one of the guys on the cruise and he was in seventh heaven and stuck to me like glue,.. i think i was a happy as he was just sharing the experiance...
i really belive the appreciation is where it's at and meeting the great friendly folks is the highlight of the hobby, the rides no matter how cool are still just vehicles...
