Had a smokin harness yesterday am.Under dash and hood.It was the wire(engine side) out of the bulkhead with the fusable link(that's still intact, except for the covering).Problem is,I don't think it even gets used. When I got my car, someone didn't wire the ignition right. They have it so you have to turn on the key switch and then hit a momentary push button to get it to start. It will turn over with the key,but won't start. The thing that bites my a$$ is,in two weeks I have to start ripping the whole car apart for paint.I was hoping someone would have a miracle so I can drive it a couple more times before.I was going to a local all Mopar show when this happened.I did not undo the tape on the underdash harness yet but,I can see no evidense of burning yet, only the wire from the bulkhead to the relay. And there was smoke in and out of the car.Greatful there was no fire. It's a 69 Charger. While we're at it,what is the double plug(engine side)top left, kinda angled??Here's hoping...Forgot,push button wires go to the starter.

update. The brown wire(not being used)from the bulkhead connector(engine side)is suppose to go to the resistor. On the inside this one is burnt right at the bulkhead. Not hooked up in engine compartment and is burnt????Also, the infamous amp guage wire(thought I had that). If I connect the black wire to the spot where the dk blue(fusable link) wire goes on the relay,I would still charger but have no guage, correct??

update 2.No,then I have no power inside .

There are two separate ignition terminals on the ignition switch, IGN1 is a blue wire and is hot when the switch is in the Run position, IGN2 is a brown wire and is hot only when the switch is in the Start position.

When the switch is turned to Start, IGN1 shuts off and power from IGN2 bypasses the ballast resistor, when the switch is returned to the Run position IGN2 shuts off and IGN1 sends power to the ballast resistor. The connector on one side of the ballast should have a double blue wire and the other side should have a blue/brown combo.

Power flows through the ammeter in both the charge and discharge directions, if the meter is disconnected the red and black wire on it must be spliced together in order to power the car.

BTW, the space bar is the long key at the bottom of the keyboard; your posts are hard to read when the sentences run together.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

yes... but also no... brown and blue are allways hot on IGN1 or IGN2 because ballast makes power come back to the oposite wire. However is true on thsoe position is the ignition switch what feeds those wires.
