How do I know I'll get good title when buying my Mopar?

Hi guys,
Particularly for private sales, has anybody used a service to actually make sure you get good legal title or do you just go and make the deal yourself?  I know that many US States have different laws and procedures on how a car's title is passed from seller to buyer but I'm no expert.  So I thought I might get an expert to transact the sale to be sure I get good title when (if) I finally get to buy my dream Mopar.

Well, in NY it's easy. These cars have no title, the registration is transfered over. So if the car has a valid registration, it has a valid title.
