I had a hard on for this car a few months ago after a lister mentioned it belonged to a buddy and he didn't want a whole lot for it.  After having someone go look at the car for me, turned out to be a bondo buggy and a real piece of crap.  I feel bad for the current owner...it went for mid 16's.   Now it's back on ebay and they didn't even take off the stupid dash sticker.  Go figure.  Look at the shape of the rear valence pan.   Here's the inside of lower quarter...yuck!  You shoudl see the inside trunk pics!!

There IS a reason I will never buy a car off ebay unless it's close enough for me to go hav a personal look at! You can make almost anything look way better than it is will a little water, soap, wax, and someone skilled with a camera. This won't be the last time this car will be on ebay I think.

Also is it just me or did that car used to have a vinyl top?

do people fill up the lower quarters to prevent dirt and leaves to stick and cause rot?

Drache, the General Lees (well most of them) had the vinyl top check trim.  People (like me) will add it to a non vinyl top car for correctness and others will leave it after removing the vinyl top.

Many listers from the DC board looked at cars for me prior to me going up to look at.  THe one I finally did get was looked at for me by Pocket Thunder and Dean (General01?) and they gave me the thumbs up.  Dead ended up bailing me out at the shippers and taking me to the airport too.  :D

CB, take a look at the inside quarter/trunk:

It's hard to fathom that someone paid $16+ for that car. I know it happens all the time but prices are getting out of hand. Even without knowing all the bad stuff about it it is obvious that car needs a lot of work. :rotz:

All the "prices are high" talk is starting to make people jump at any car without thinking it through first.  Only certain cars command those prices and if people calmed down a little, it'd force some of these guys selling projects and rollling chassis to back off a little.
I know it ain't gonna happen, but...

If that thing is worth 16K....I'm sitting on a GOLD MINE !   :o

This ticket is only $69.00 ?  If I'd have known that I'd have been going FASTER !

Looks like that car just sold for 20g's.  I looked at that car first hand and no wonder it was up for auction again.  Original seller auctioned it from Pennsylvania, now a couple months later the dope who bought it is selling it again.  This car looks great from 20 feet, what a shame it is going to disappoint many a buyer.  I hope no one from this site bought it.  Wakk, the best thing I ever did ( for me ) was look at that car for ya, because now I will never bid on a car without seeing it in person.  Lesson learned.

:iagree: , my Uncle has made similar comments reguarding his '68 now that he is helping my locate
and buy one. He told me about one that was just at a local used car delarship. It was a rusted out
'69 with nothing but a frame and a body. Interior was gutted, engine/trans wern't present, etc.
The delarship was asking $30,000 ! The sad thing was we drove buy the place and the car
wasn't there! Maybe someone bought it, I don't know? We never stoped there again.

And the best thing you ever did for me was to look at that car for me.  :)  Oh, and that gold one too.  :D   FYI, I did speak to the high bidder, he's a '67 owner and he's not plunkin down any cash till he takes a look at the car.  I won't be surprised to see the car back on the bay before too long as a relist.

That's just amazing.  I wonder if it being a General Lee look alike makes a significant difference in the price? If it were painted differently but in the same conditon would it have sold for less? I think I already know the answer but it scares me to think about it. If it weren't for the Confederate flag on top of the car you know that DCX would be making a GL version of the new Charger. I wouldn't be surprised if they still don't find a way to do it. :puke:

If they think they can make a buck off it they will.

I have heard of the guy selling it. He had a BEAUTIFUL 69 R/T General Lee on ebay a while ago. It sold reserve not met and my dad called him. He said that it was an R/T console car almost perfect. He said he wanted $30,000 for it. We called him back and he never answered us back. I think he sold it to someone in Boston or around that area.

Should have asked some of you to look at the one I have.  K Frame is rotted in places....so I have been trying to find places around here to take a look at it and have a couple shops give me estimates.  I was told about those caps, but *shrugs*.
