Ok well I spent all last nite trying to put in my pioneer 300 watts on the speaker shelf to later find out that one side is larger then the other cause I was going from the top down, and I really wasn't happy :brickwall:.So I ruined a crusty old speaker shelf insert to get modified which wouldn't of helped me anyways. So now I'm trying to just tighten the speakers in the trunk under the speaker shelf and see how that works. But I was wondering if anybody has put little 135 watt duals in the door panels up front or in the kickers. Because I need 2 7/16 clearance back to fit it perfect in the kick panels which I don't think I have. So I was wondering if anybody could help me with step by step instructions to put them in the door itself, because I can't ruin these panels cause they are like brand new. And I know it won't be stock but if anybody could help me out. Please

Because in factory applications, IIRC, they aren't both speaker holes. One is for the air intake on defogger equipped cars. The other is for the rear speaker, not speakers, option. I put the intake for my defogger against the back of the rear seat and put two 6x9s in anyway.

Is not that ILOGICAL really talking about sound.

on double speakers setup front and smaller rear speakers where left channel and right rear speaker 6x9 was the only right channel speaker. If you think with 6x9 speaker you have around 40% more bass eficiency than smaller 5x8 and you already had a 4x10 on front reproducing leftchannel, then the double combo on left chanell should be close to same 6x9 capacity to reproduce the same frequency efficiency.

Dunno if that was THE reason, but probably.

deffog stuff I don't think that's the reason. They could make anyway two 6x9 speakers holes anyway with or without deffog, OR 5x8 PLATE to fit the blower on to a 5x8 speaker hole to driver side and get both holes same size. Blower itself is noticeable smaller than 5x8 and 6x9 holes.

Double speaker was an option on B bodies, however not with rear deffog.
