Is this guy on drugs?   :hah:Claims it to have 1968 VIN stampings in a 1969 charger and the valve covers (at least the pass. side) is from a 68 also.  Hope no one gets fooled into the buy it now price of $100,000. :smilielol:

It's that or he's lying or he really believes what he's says when he says it's "fully documented and registered as the only one its kind to have been missed with the casted date codes and casting number." I guess my only question would be 'fully documented and registered by whom?' I suppose it's possible but the burden of proof is on him when it comes to such an outlandish claim.

But then even if it is true is it really that big of a deal? I don't think it is. IMO it's kind of like having the only '70 Charger with '71 Charger mirrors or the only '66 with fender turn indicators like the '67s. I just don't think it's a $100k novelty. And I don't think I'd even want a car that I'd have to go around arguing with people about its authenticity all the time.

Heck, if that is the case then I have a one of one car since mine is a factory f-up.  The factory forgot to put the engine wire harness holding tabs on my firewall.  The indicators are there a long with the little nub where the tack weld would go but there is no signs of the nub being ground off or distorted like they were either broken off or removed at some point of the cars life.   :scratchchin:  Maybe I can find someone to buy my car for $100,000 or more since it is a 383 HP 4 speed car. :scratchchin:

What this guy has is a car without its original motor -and on top of that, the motor was made for an unknown model of car from the previoius model year.  He's trying to confuse the subject (and strangely, to increase the perceived value of his car) by focusing on an abnormality surrounding the engine block that has no connection whatsoever to his car.

I myself wonder how he can make the claim that it is the only documented 440 block without a casting number.  Whose "documentation" is he going by - his own?  Has he checked everyone's block to make sure his is the only one?  I don't remember him stopping by my shop recently to check my stash...   :scratchchin:

I'd love to get a nice close look at the area where the casting numbers "would be".  A couple weeks ago I saw a street rod that had the block and heads smoothed down and then painted.  It looked really clean but someone took an awful lot of time to grind down all of the bumps in the casting.  Oh, and his block still had the casting numbers and date code on it.

If i'm not mistaken Gene, he claimed that he was going by documentation from Galen. Oh well such is life.

I'm still planning on taking a trip to New Pal this weekend to check the car out. I know where it is, hopefully he is home then.

Apparently he got po'd by people calling and doubting his claim on his motor. at least that's what I gather from his 8/5/07 post.

Can you blame them? If he's going to cry about all the naysayers then he shouldn't be trying to sell the car for a 100 large. Suck it up and deal with them, pansy. I'd put up with a lot for the chance to sell a $35k car for $100k.
