3rd Gen 8 3/4 swap

Currently have 8 1/4 and going to 8 3/4 (727 Tranny). Will the drive shaft need to be changed? I vaguely recall not needing to but i figured id ask.

you shouldn't have to change the driveshaft unless you're changing the trans from 904 to 727 or vise versa.......
Remember the average response time to a 911 call is over 4 minutes.

The average response time of a 357 magnum is 1400 FPS.

I did this swap many years ago and remember getting the driveshaft shortened.
1970 Road Runner, 505 cid, 4 speed, GV overdrive, 3.91 gears

when i swapped mine about 10 years ago i didn't have to change anything.....was a 360 with a 904 trans......but if you aren't changing the trans i can't see why you would need to have it shortened.

dont forget about yoke sizes - i know the 8 3/4 has two different yoke sizes - dont know anything about the 8 1/4

Spicer makes a conversion joint...you may need it if the 8 3/4 center has the large 7290 yoke.  ;)
