I'll be taking my front and rear glass out soon...does anyone have any advice for someone thats never done it before? Should I be alright if I just take my time and be careful? My dad will be helping me so it may be a bit easier. I can start a thread showing my progress on the roof skin replacement if you guys would like to see the progress. I'll be starting it tomorrow. The goal is to finish it up on Sunday and then start putting on the vinyl top. Looks like I'll be making my August 9th deadline to have the roof skin on, overheating problem fixed (clogged radiator, I'll have it back tomorrow), and my cam issues fixed (A set of Rhodes lifters with adjustable rocker arms).

for the front glass if its on that 68 satellite you have listed in your sig, cut the gasket and the glass will come out easy. just buy a new gasket.

for the rear they are usually held in with butyl, and its a pain in the butt. I use piano wire and the wooden peg trick. and go REALLLY SLOW and carefully and hope you dont break the glass i guess.

Set the car out in the sun and let it warm up for a while, this will soften the black goo holding the back window in. I just use a 3 foot long piece of mig welding wire, wrapped around a screwdriver handle on each end. Remove the trim, run a utility knife around the outside of the window and remove as much of the black goo as you can-remember metal and glass do not mix! While you're scraping away the goo stay away from the edge of the glass as much as you can-one nick with the knife can bust the glass. When you get most of the goo off find a spot where you can push the wire through-wrap one end around a screw driver handle and have a helper inside the car hold it while you wrap your end around another screwdriver handle. Slowly work the wire back and forth slowly working your way around the glass, take it slow and it'll come loose.  You and your helper should both be wearing safety glasses and gloves when you do this....
