I HAVE (2) 1968 CHARGERS. ONE IS A #'S MATCHING R/T, AND THE OTHER IS A BASE 318 WITH A 383 MAG. WOULD I BE STUPID TO TAKE THE PRISTINE FENDERS OFF THE BEIGE BASE MODEL AND PUT THEM ON THE BLACK R/T MODEL THAT HAS SOME NOSE DAMAGE ?? I WAS ALSO TOLD THAT CORONET FENDERS WILL WORK IS THAT TRUE ?? AND WHO OUT THERE MAKES THE BEST INTERIOR REPRO PARTS. I NEED MAROON FRONT COVERS, HEADLINER, DASH PAD, AND DOOR PANELS. THE BACK SEATS ARE IN GREAT SHAPE SO IF I GET FRONT COVERS THAT DONT MATCH EXACTLY THEY WILL STAND OUT. I BOUGHT THE R/T WHEN I WAS 16 IN 1980 AND DROVE IT TIL 1985 WHEN I WENT INTO THE NAVY. ITS BEEN RETIRED EVER SINCE THANKS TO MY BROTHER WHO ROASTED THE FIREWALL HARNESS. I HAVE SIDELINED ALL MY OTHER PROJECTS AND TAGGED SOME MONEY FOR THIS PROJECT THAT I HAVE BEEN WANTING TO DO FOR YEARS BUT NEVER HAD TIME ( YOU KNOW, CAREER, KIDS, ETC..) BUT AFTER SEEING NOTHING BUT RICE-BURNERS AT A SONIC DRIVE-IN ON FRIDAY, I THOUGHT IT WAS MY CIVIC DUTY TO REMIND SOME OF THESE KIDS WHAT MUSCLE USED TO MEAN. CAN YOU HELP ME ???

It wouldn't be stupid at all.  In fact, it would be a good idea.

It wouldn't bother me to do that kind of swap, however, you might want to wait a little while and check out the new reproduction fenders that will soon be for sale.

No, Coronet fenders will not work. Actually, let me rephrase that. They might bolt on but they would really look silly since they are very dissimilar to Charger fenders.

As far as the interior parts I'd go with Legendary Auto Interiors for everything but the dash pad. Those are kind of tricky right now. No one I've heard from who's bought a dash cap seems very happy with it, and there are no full dash pad reproductions out there so you can either spend an arm buying a nice one off Ebay and dying it or spending a leg having yours refurbished by a place like Just Dashes.

Maybe you didn't intend the pun but I liked the rant about rice burners and it being your "Civic" duty to remind these kids about old school muscle. :D

I use Legendary Interiors, Just Dashes, and Mopaint for my interior. note the new color will not match the original color!

THANKS BULL, LOOKING AT MY RESTORATION GUIDE I MAY HAVE MIS-INTERPRETED WHAT IT SAID ABOUT CORONET FENDERS WORKING ON CHARGERS. SO WHEN AND WHERE CAN I EXPECT TO GET SOME REPRO FENDERS FOR THE CHARGERS ??? ALSO, DOES ANYONE HAVE A GOOD MOTOR REBUILD GUIDE THAT WILL KEEP MY 440 MAGNUM USING PUMP GAS (92 OCTANE), APPEARING SOMEWHAT STOCK, AND PUSHING OUT 500+ HORSES ??? I HAVE A 6 PAK FOR IT BUT WHEN I DROVE IT IN THE 80'S IT SEEMED UNDER CAM'ED. I WOULD LIKE TO USE THE 6 PAK IN THE REBUILD. THANKS AGAIN BULL, KEEPAT, AND GHOSTE. KEEP THE GOOD INFO ROLLIN !!

Jeremy is the guy's name and a little ways down that first page you'll see pics of the fenders and some other stuff. Contact him and he'll tell you when to expect to see them for sale. Shouldn't be too long since they have samples of the product. Last I heard they were finishing up the inner fender parts so I would assume they'll be for sale within the next month or so.

Man, you're lucky. Many guys have been waiting for years to have reproduction fenders but you just happen to want to do your restoration about the same time they finally come out. :2thumbs:

The restoration guide may have been referring to 66-67 which are still not a straight swap but with some work can be made to fit.
