If hi-jacked,  the ip address could be traced.  This isn't directly against Ebay, but online buying is such a loosey-goosey way to do business.  I don't know how enforceable any of this can be because it lacks tangibility - at least in my opinion. This case won't go to far in court because theres no signed contract between the buyer and seller ...its just that simple.  Online bidding is great for most items, but theres no credibility desgined into the process for selling high-dollar items. What's the worst thing you can get - - negative feedback??  ...oooooooh :flame: Watch-out!

Hmmmm  ???  If there was a way to get the bidders funds "certified" .....and then sucked out of his/her bank account - - that will keep the kids from playing  :icon_smile_wink:

I'm betting his user account was hijacked...
They switched to a private auction in the middle after a bunch of bogus bids. The guy is all over the news so if he didn't know he was bidding on a car then he'd be screaming about it to everyone within earshot. Instead he "did not return e-mails and did not answer the phone listed for his house in Laguna Hills".

I did find this quote rather interesting: "EBay spokeswoman Catherine England said the company doesn't keep track of how many winning bidders renege." Well, that's convenient.  :rotz:

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

:scratchchin: o.k.  I only want two million for mine,.. any takers?..  ???

Only two million?  Dang!  If only I had an extremely successful internet based knife retailing business.  You know what would be in the mail. Why does this always happen to me. :RantExplode:

I don't know Silver, it was an incredibly stupid amount of money to pay for it but it's an incredibly stupid world.  My initial thought was disbelief but after all the news stations began to run with it, I thought it was true.  I should know better than to trust the news shouldn't I?

I wonder if John Schnieder will end up talking it to the Barebutt-Jackson now? He certainly got a LOT of FREE publicity for his $50 bucks (the fee to list a car for sale on eBay). Our good buddy Craig (the ego driven, greedy, multi-millionare) will take A LOT MORE!!  :icon_smile_angry:

From John's Myspace:

"Hey Gang,

We're re-listing my Charger on EBay and the auction will start on Saturday, May 19th. We've hired a firm to pre-qualify bidders to make sure that the fiasco from last time doesn't happen again. We're excited and we're confident that the auction will go much better.

Ray Sawyer, the lead singer of the Supergroup, "Dr. Hook" and I have cut a cover of "Cover of the Rolling Stone". This new song is titled, "Cover of the EBay Motor News" and will be available at my webstore and will be available on EBay next week. Be looking for it, it will be previewed on morning radio shows across the country next week. I'll keep everybody up to date with what's going on.

Wish me luck in the Silver State Classic next weekend, it'll be the last ride for this Charger and me. It's a little sad, but I'm more excited about being able to make "Collier & Co. 2" and make it the way that I want to. Keep your fingers crossed and say a prayer. I got clocked going 186 m.p.h. last year, hoping to break 200 this year. Yee Haaa!!!

Onward

Thats what I was thinking.  :-\
Shel Silverstein wrote that song not Dr.Hook..They just played it
Earth. Even the word sounded strange to me now... unfamiliar. How long had I been gone? How long had I been back? Did it matter? I tried to find the rhythm of the world where I used to live. I followed the current. I was silent, attentive, I made a conscious effort to smile, nod, stand, and perform the millions of gestures that constitute life on earth. I studied these gestures until they became reflexes again. But I was haunted by the idea that I remembered her wrong -Solaris
