Hemidog

your engine block is a  1978 440  RB

UFO

39  5 is for a torqueflight automatic transmission.

218 for the axle indicates that you have an axle for a 1968 B-body, 2.76:1 ratio, 8-3/4" Standard Axle (open), with 10" rear drums, 1-3/8" pinion and it uses the 7260 U-joints.

I got the block out and it says that the block is 3/3/67   with the number on the side 246813010 does any one know about this 383 was it anything special

Look for the stamped data on the block near the distributor on the 383.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.
