I was in oak beach, but not where the old OBI used to be.  got some good pics.  some nice cars, but small gathering.  although there was a sweet late 60's dart, some nice A bodys, 2 lambo's and an Enzo Ferarri.

check it out.

My favorite car was this dart, very unassuming and with a small block.

nd me....

had a few issues.  Holley blue pump no likey the heat.  quit on me 3 times on the way home.  I should have known better, bought it used of the bag 3 years ago.  ordering an aeromotive and will be back on the road.

otherwise, the car ran great, the firm feel stage 2 box makes it very tight and does not wander.  actually spotted my boss on the highway coming home and I figured out that my speedo is reading 70 when I am going 65.  have a new pinion coming, but it's not as far off as I thought.  about 3400 rpm at 65.  that's with 26.5" tall tires and 3.91's with 727 auto.  thought it would be worse.

also, one of the times I stopped on main street in bayshore to let the pump cool down, 2 sufflolk cops stopped in the middle of mid sunday traffic to ask questions about the car.  Even thought the pump acted up, still a great day.

nice,.. too bad ya' didnt move the garbage can...  :eek2:

i dont care about ferrari enzos more money than common sense in my opinion... that dart is waaaaaay cooler...
but i'd rather have your '68 to be sure...

:scratchchin: ya can't buy cool...

dkn1997

My brother in law who was with me said that the enzo is over a million bucks and it did have a crowd around it, and it is cool....but.....I would rather have the dart.  If the dart would lose the tach and the quarter stick, it would be a total sleeper.

Yeah the Dart is definitely sweet.  IMO, the big tach and the dogs kind of clash.  I'd much rather have the white tail striped one.

You New Yorkers have the coolest cops.  :police:

actually, I call that a hiccup.  Trouble is when you come home on the hook.  I wish every breakdown would be cured by a 15 minute wait.

Dude, what time did you get there? I was there from like 7:15am to about 10?

dkn1997

I probably passed you.  I got there about 10:15.

I am sure you saw the ferrari.  Sure,  it's wretched excess, but still probably the most serious car I have ever seen.   Guy driving it did not exactly look old.  The Mercilago was no slouch either.  I saw the Enzo at the captree boat basin later on, but I dont' think there were any other cars there.

One of the best parts of the day was when my brother in law met me at my house so we could get on the road.  The orginal plan was to follow each other there.  He has a brand new vette that's really sweet.  He pulls up to my house in it and says "let's take the charger"
Looks like I married into the right family.

Mike, is that lot really where the OBI was?  I remember it being a hell of a lot bigger.  Granted the last time I was there I was doing a lethal weapon rigs move on the hood of a 74 impala all the way from the bar to Montauk Highway...so I might not  have the clearest memory of the place.  Part of my brain tells me that the OBI was further west of where we were...

anywho, I plan on going there more.  Bald hill is ok, but it's 4 miles from my house, so not a lot cruising to be done.  OBI is probably 25 miles away.  Just the right distance to eat a holley blue pump.

This might give the Enzo a run for it's money.  and you can pocket the extra $940,000,000.00.  maybe not, but 99.9% of anyone who runs up against this bitch on the street will want to stuff his own balls in the glove box when it's over.

I met the guy with the Enzo and honestly, he is a SUPER nice guy. Also has an original 67 427 Vette that he bought brand new. To be honest, the Enzo might not be the prettiest Ferrari, but it simply a wonderment of modern engineering - really an amazing car. The Lambo is a great car as well as I've been lucky enough to get behind the wheel of a Merci and Gallardo - big difference between the Lambo and the Ferrari is that the Lambo kinda' feels like your driving a big AUDI where the Ferrari feels like your driving a FERRARI... that make sense?

dkn1997

Makes sense to me.  Honestly, I am not that up on modern muscle or supercars, but my brotherin law is really into the new stuff and he started telling me some stuff about that enzo.  sounds like a wicked ride.  Looks very bad ass.  If my new fuel pump comes in this week, and I get a chance to install it, I plan on making it sunday again.  earlier this time....

mike, do you run an electric pump?  if so where do you mount it?  mine is on the framerail in the pass rear wheel well.  a compromise at best and dangerous at worst....If I ever had a massive rear blowout, it would probably take the pump with it.
