Cool , i got a bunch of the Good year ads, don't have any of those.  Were do you find this stuff?

41husk - a snootload of magazines I have from 1966 onward. And if the ad I come across isn't the best, then I scan eGouge for the same ad. Eventually it shows up.

Herre's the Mopar based Good Year ones I have - there are more featuring Brand X'ers, but we don't want them here. :icon_smile_big:

Anybody else notice that the wheels on the silver Barracuda are Magnum 500's?
And how impossible this would have been to actually do?

And I know why.....does anybody else? ;)

Were they not produced yet?  In that version anyways, with no trim rings?   :scratchchin:

was the small bolt pattern 5 x 4" instead of 5x4-1/2"?

Yup the A body Barracuda had the small bolt pattern. Magnum was a wheel producing company much like Wheel Vintiques, Stockton and others today. So if someone ordered a 5 on 4 bolt pattern for a Magnum500 rim, I'm sure they'd oblige.

Actually, the "Magum 500" was a trademark of Motor Wheel.

Yes, you are correct. I have an ad for the Magnum 500 from Motor Wheel Company. Spun a bearing there.

Red Ram

I have a 66 Charger that was originally a Avis rental car. The second owner I bought the car from told me that the car always had Magnum 500's. This decal was in the old tire when I put new radials on.

Bigger photo. Were these wheels Chrysler approved at the time or were they after market?

In 1966 the Magnum's were NOT available from the factory.  Chrysler made them available in 14X5.5 in 1967 as the "Road Wheel" option.  This does not mean that a dealer didn't install them but that of course would still make it an aftermarket sale.
Runner, I have never seen that ad before.

A couple of others featuring Motor Wheel Corporation's wares on Mopars.

Nice ads 6pkrunner.   :2thumbs:

I've been thinking more about the Magnum wheels & I'm almost positive that none were ever made in the 4" bolt pattern. I could be wrong, but I've had A-Body cars with & without the 4" bolt pattern for almost 25 years & have yet to see, or hear of one. Trying to find any wheel with a 4" pattern is a major PITA, & I've contacted many companies over the years asking about it. My guess, is that if the old ad isn't air brushed or modified, the A-Body Barracuda in the ad could have had the rear axles & the front hubs swapped to a 4-1/2" size.

The 2 most common after market wheels I always see are Cragar SS, & slotted wheels in steel & aluminum. I did once see an aluminum Centerline type wheel with a 4" pattern, but never got to speak with the owner. Wheel Vintiques made the set of 15"x 7" Rally wheels with the 4" pattern that I have, & said they didn't make Magnums in a 4" size. The wheels I have are actually made from an OEM 14" Rally where they cut the dish from the rim & then weld a new, after market 15" rim with a deeper valley to make up the extra 1".

Old - I head that about the 4 inch being a PITA to locate. I am going to convert my GTS to 4.5 - one for 11.75 unicast rotors and secondly to get clear of the 4 inch pattern.

Here's a couple more of the Magnum 500 in 1968 and then going to the Road Wheel in 1969.
