Does anybody know of a good way to uninstall Spylocked? I Googled it, but I am not sure that I trust any of the websites, since they also want you to download more junk. I would like to just get rid of it. Also if you are thinking of downloading the new Google Earth, I would strongly discourage it.

You can go to www.spywareinfo.com and down the left side you will see "online spyware scanner" and you can click that and go to the page and tell it to run and if there is spyware, it will generally find it and let you remove it.

You might want to add WHY someone should not download Google Earth. I've got the newest and paid version and there is nothing to worry about here.

You can download Ad-Aware for free from lavasoft. Ive been using it for 3 years or so now and it seems to do a very good job at removing any and all spyware on your computor.

Thanks Pettyfan, Have you used this successfully to remove Spylocked?

In response to GoogleEarth, I attempted to download the newest version and ended up adding all kinds of BS Google crap to my computer, which I unistalled easily thru the deleting programs function. NBD.

Nnot that particular program, but I use AVG Virus control now. It has an automatic scanner that runs a system test a couple times a week, I also use Mozilla FireFox instead of Internet Explorer.  I don't have spyware trouble.

But I have used it extensively in the past. You just have to hope it is already in their database. But usually it will remove most any spyware.

Good luck.

terrible one

Get Spybot-Search and Destroy. It's a great program that searches your computer for thousands of known spyware programs, and then does the best job I've seen of a free program of elminating them. It's also updated semi-frequently when new spyware programs arise. I'm sure it would help you out, and it may even find some stuff you didn't know you had.

As already mentioned, Ad-aware and SpyBot might get'er done. As its also already been mentioned, try switching from IE to Firefox or Opera. I prefer Firefox.

I did alittle research on your situation and that looks like a nasty little devil.  Going to take some work to get rid of it.   :eek2:
Tomorrow is promised to NOBODY . . . .

If it's an actual file try just a hard deletion using the delete button or using a program like killbox.

Another good way is to use a program called HijackThis to create a HT log and then post it on one of the many HT forums and they'll tell you what to get rid of and how to do it.

These things are a mess to remove! For what it's worth I ran across a drive-by hijacking last week by something similar and I use Firefox along with Avast, Ad-Aware, and SpyBot S&D in real-time protection modes. Avast caught it first but I'm on a 10 Mb connection so it had downloaded and installed several other things before the first warning. It took roughly four hours to clean my system and I was editing the registry by hand even after the "fixes".

In your case, it appears that this link covers most of it (unless there's a new version since March). However, according to this Wiki link, Ad Aware should remove it. Good luck!
