Anyone know any superbee club sites?

I was taking out the seats of my latest project... 69 Charger r/t, and I found a broadcast sheet under the back seat instead of the sheet for the Charger. I highly doubt the seats were removed or anything like that, and I'd like to find the owner of the Superbee (if the car is still alive and kicking). I'm sure the owner would like it.... I know I would.

I was told by an old mopar guy that sometimes the wrong seats get put in the wrong cars while coming down the assembly line...so if I understand that, that would mean superbees and chargers were made on the same line?

How close is the VIN to yours? Are the cars from the same plant?

If the engine code is "M" check with Dave at this link;

Check here as well;

The Dodge Coronet Registry also has a Super Bee section.

Most definitely...

However, that's an unusual set of circumstances if a SuperBee broadcast sheet was found in a Charger's seatback.  The vinyl seats are totally different between the two trim grades (Charger & Coronet/SuperBee), so someone in the seat assembly area really screwed up if that's the case.  I suppose it could have happened, but it would sure be unusual.  With most mismatches you'll see a seat (with a car's broadcast sheet that matches the trim level of the seat) get installed in another car with the same interior type and color.

why are you so sure the seats had not been changed?

My charger's vin is - XS29L9B175075

I'm no expert, but this car had green interior, the seats are green and have never been re-upholstered. Seats definitely look like the original seats.

Interior is not horrible, but the body is not in the best shape. Straight and all, but rust in the usual places (below the rear window, couple other spots).

Plus the car has not been licensed for the road since 1972 (thereabouts). I am the third owner. First owner sold it quick, to the second owner. Second owner had some kind of mental issue, and he did not have a license. So the car sat at/on his mother's property starting in the early 70's.
The second owner tinkered with the charger, took it around the block once in awhile, but nothing else.
Somewhere along the way he lost the 440, and put in a 383. (440 is going to go back in it). The second owner also lost the title, and never got another one. So I bought the car without a title. (After some footwork I got one now!).

When the mother died, all things on the property had to be moved/sold/crushed/etc. I knew a friend who is related to this guy, and she knew I was a Dodge person....so now here it is in Arizona!

Well, it would be awfully hard for a broadcast sheet from the St. Louis (Missouri) plant that was printed in late February or early March of 1969 and intended for a car with totally different vinyl seat covers to be accidentally found in a car's back seat that was made at the Hamtramck (Michigan) plant about five months earlier.

In other words, that broadcast sheet wasn't printed until five months after your car was built, and when it was printed it was at a totally separate assembly plant about 700 miles away and for a car with totally different seat cover pattern.  If your seats have Charger vinyl seat covers on them, then the seat frames in your car had to have been changed out.  If there are Coronet/Superbee seat covers on them, then the seats were simply switched out by an earlier owner.  There was no assembly line error involved with this situation.

Not a big deal though - a whole lot of cars don't have their broadcast sheet and by registering that car's VIN number with one of the registries and letting them know you have the B-cast sheet you might eventually end up making someone extremely happy in the end.

After reading my previous posts (and pulling the tarp off the charger r/t to look inside), I can say that the seat pattern is very different from my other charger's seat pattern. And I'm assuming that the Charger seat patterns in 69 were all the same?

I should have noticed that in the first place, and I would have saved us all alot of time.  :brickwall:

The r/t is very weird, and I thought the seats came with that car because everything is green on the inside. The dash pad, the carpet, and the seats all seem to match. Even the center horn cap appears to be green. And if you saw the rest of the car I can't imagine this guy doing anything for the interior...since he did absolutely nothing for the body, as there is rust...
The only thing I was told is that the guy was always messing with the engine/trans. And I don't think he knew what he was doing in that area...
I love a good mystery, and this car is really twisting my brain :P

Can I assume that when I purchase new vinyl seat covers for a charger they'll fit these seats?

I appreciate all the info and input on here. And yes, I do hope I'll find the Super Bee owner to pass the paperwork on. But since it appears that I have the seats out of the super bee, I'm guessing the car did not make it to 2007. I did e mail the superbee registery, so who knows????

thanks

New seat covers will fit.  Good luck with reuniting the broadcast sheet.
