Plumbing for trans cooler?

I'm trying to install a transmission cooler for my 727. I installed a new radiator which doesn't have provisions for the trans cooler lines. I measured the fittings on both ends of the hard lines and they're 1/2 inch by 20 threads. Unfortunately this doesn't match up with NPT or AN fittings which prevents me from building a braided line to the cooler. I'm sure somebody has run into this problem. I don't want to use barbed fittings with a rubber hose. Any suggestions? My trans cooler has -6AN fittings.

6AN is the same as 3/8 AN or Army/Navy. You should be able to buy a pair of 6An to flare fittings from Summit or your local speed shop.  Beware,, the 3/8 pipe is different. I have used both and prefer using AN for An, but in a pinch a BRASS 3/8 fitting will work. You need to be careful not to over tighten it and DO NOT USE STEEL.

PS. I prefer seeing hard lines nicely bent to fit right. I am one of those guys that does not like hoses of any kind. Yes, you do need hoses in some places. Tranny lines are not one of them..
