We just got back from Power tour. We only did the first leg, Cleveland, OH to Kalamazoo, MI. Rain and more Rain let me tell ya. It was a lot of fun, and I learned a lot. I found that you cant really stick to the program as far as staying on the tour route if you want to get to the next city at a reasonable time. There are just too many cars. We idled for a long time trying to follow the the tour from the IX center to the interstate. The 440 does not like to sit and idle. Finally we broke out of the single file tour line going through the town and just started on our way. When we got to the first stop at Sterling State Park in Monroe, MI there were already so many tour cars there we couldnt even get in, same thing at the Kalamazoo County Fairgrounds. We never really got to hang with the crowd till the stop at Lane Automotive outside Kalamazoo, MI. We decided to skip the morning drivers meeting and head straight for Lane. It was already packed when we got there. They had a brunch set up for us. Lane did a great job, good food, organized parking, and a big tent to get out of the rain.

I would estimate over 2500 to maybe 3000 cars were at the starting point in Cleveland. Frieberger, editor of Hot Rod Mag, had stated at the morning drivers meeting in Cleveland that it was the biggest tour ever so far. I dont think they had planned for so many cars.

All in all it was a blast. I wish we could have done the whole week. Maybe next year.

Here are some pics from the stop at Lane Automotive. My 73 is first.
