oil is oil, and breakin oil is supposed to be thick, its supposed to be natural (non full/partial synthetic), and its supposed to be changed after 30 minutes....why not.

I use Rotella for all my engine break in, ring seating times, and all my normal driving unless the vehicle has been properly switched over to full synthetic.

The initial fireup and breakin is the most critical time in an engine's life. Oil & extreme pressure additives is one area that i refuse to compromise on. That being said, Rotella 15/40 and a bottle of EOS is all i will use.

I agree with FF, from what I am hearing, all the cam manufactures are seeing a large increase of cam failures.  They agree that the two main culprits are the sudden increase of inferior made metal in off-shore lifters that has swamped America and the lack of zinc in todays oil.  I have switched over to Rotellla also for breakins.  I also have read that todays Rotella now has less zinc than it used to........so use the EOS too.   J

I used Delo 15/40 and a bottle of Comp Cams engine break-in additive. I was told to use a bottle of the oil additive every oil change. Is it ok to use this in every oil change?

Good question , 70, as I do not know just what all is in the Comp Cams break in lube.  What I know is that most of the cam break in lube suppled by most grinders do or did contain a lot of moly.  While this moly is great for keeping cam and lifters well lubed during break in , the moly will also clog up the oil filter after the 30 minute break in.  That is why I was alway told to change the filter after break in , but could run the oil , 500 or 1000 miles before change.  Now if the Comp Cams lube contains moly , I see this as not the thing to keep doing.   Lets see if our members have more info on this matter...........J

Firefighter is completely right. I also run Rotella 15-40 diesel oil and a bottle of General Motors EOS oil additive for any kinda results at all. DO NOT SKIMP in this area. You will spend MUCH more on the second rebuild. Trust me. Well mine was a ballooned converter and a thrust bearing that lilked .250 thrust.
My point is to save the $700 on the second rebuild that had shavings in everything and spend alittle more for the thow away oil things. You will be happy in the long run.

I would use the 5-30 in a daily driver and get good oil for the 440. Rotella is pretty cheap in these parts anyways.
