Voltage Regulator/Alternator

my alternator is charging full blast i have cleaned my grounds to the voltage regulator and i have a firewall ground and it is cleaned to i have one of the wires on the alternator grounded to the engine block and i have the ammeter gauge disconnected or bypassed because it burned up now i don't know what to do i have also tried a new voltage regulator one the stock looking elec. type and a heavy duty points type and still no luck also had the alternator checked and they said it was ok can someone please help me :brickwall:

check the field wire for a grounding problem...     burn insulation or a slice in the insulation is a dead giveaway....
