And probably also worth pointing out that it was the only engine available in the TA cars.  IE, no 383 Challenger TA's or 318 AAR's or what have you.

If I remember right the 340 was a extra cost option. SO, You had to pay more to get a small block when you usually had to pay more to get the optional big block. LEON.

In 70 it was extra cost because you were buying it on the standard model but in 71 you could pick from the 383 or the 340 as the standard engine in the RT.
