As some of you may remember, I've been battling with my car to get it tuned up right for about a month. Well last week I decided to just buy a new carb. I got an edelbrock to replace my old holley. I did some minor tuning on it and took it out. I found I could break the tires loose for about 10 feet, by punching it from a stop. During the week after that I started reading about tuning edelbrocks and how they worked in general. I printed a few things out, and this weeked went out there and tuned it up...the right way. I backed it out (my dad was there too), we called my brother to get the video camera and film the test run. The first run I couldn't even get them to chirp. Thats when my brother just went back inside with the camera. My dad and I decided that it needed more initial timing. We bumped it out past 20* and tried another test run. I gunned it and the car started spinning them stationary for about a second and then took off, leaving a 20 foot patch out in front of the house. I'm stoked! Too bad my brother didn't catch it on tape or I'd post the video. Now I need to get a digital read out timing light so I can figure out my total advance. I think its way too much. I've finally made some major progress. Well I have to go to work, but when I get back I'm going to try and make a video to show you guys. My dad said no more burnouts in front of our house, because were getting it ready for the move back to Tucson, AZ in a month. I'm sure that once I get the timing curve right it should have a lot more power.  :drive:

I haven't started anything really significant on the body yet. Luckily it doesn't have any rust, just light surface stuff. It does have some dents. For now I'm just going to get temp. registration and drive it around for a month and then start the body work in AZ.

Good job man, sounds like your getting closer. Sounds like you need to re curve to limit your total advance, and then your in the ball park.

Have you figured out how your going to get your car to AZ?
