73 318ci questions

Just recently i purchased a 73 charger totally original with 60000 miles, it has the 318. I want to eventually turn this into a fast street car, but for now i would like to hop-up the 318 being that i dont know a whole lot about engine work besides the basics of tuning, etc and i want to learn. So my question is...what type of carb and intake should i consider? What about cams, heads, exhaust systems, rear-ends? My goal right now is to learn how to do this and how to choose the right combos for about 380hp on the 318.  And eventually build something  larger with about 500hp. I would really appreciate any help offered. I just might be a little too confident, but we'll find out!
