Quick answer needed about exhaust tips

I know this is the wrong place for this but I need a quick answer and it probably won't happen in the exhaust section. Please leave it here for a day if it's not a huge problem. Thanks.

Anyway, I think someone is attempting to pull the wool over my eyes. I find it hard to believe that the chrome exhaust tips that came stock on 2nd gen Chargers did not come from the factory with part numbers or at least the pentastar stamp -- something to identify them as original Mopar parts. Am I wrong? If I am wrong and they didn't stamp them, how can you tell if they are NOS or even used originals?

Anyone got any pictures of some real Mopar exhaust tips, especially some with identifiable markings??

Bull,

To my knowledge, there are no identifiable marks on the original exhaust tips.

IIRC, the only way to identify a reproduction tip from an original is the shape of the supporting bracket.  The repros have the support bracket just welded to the top of the exhaust tip, whereas the original has a bent piece that is inserted into a slot on the top of the exhaust tip.

The original/NOS tip is the first of these two pictures:

I agree Bull.  I think all the markings came on the packaging.  A buddy of mine has a set of NOS ones and I will double check but I am certain his have no markings on them.  They are still in the boxes and the label on the box is the only identifier I ever recall on there.  Mind you, it's a few years since I looked at them but he used to have them sitting on his desk and whenever I popped by his place I'd usually take one out of the box to ooo and aaah over while we shot the breeze.

Ok, so I'm wrong. Won't be the last time I bet.

Thanks for the help guys.
