A Little Delay In The Restore....

I was driving my truck back to school today and I heard my tires start to squeal.  It seemed strange because I don't have that much power under the hood of my truck to burnout at 5,000 RPM's  So I looked down and my Tac was holding at 5.  Which is REALLY strange for my truck beings that it shifts at about 3 in first.  So when I pulled into the school parking lot I put it in reverse to park and when I mashed on the gas.... nothing....  Just my engine reving up.  So I put it into D.  Still nothing.  I tried every gear and the only one that was catching was Over Drive.  So after 216,834 miles, my transmission died.  Great...  Now I have to spend $700 to get it rebuilt, and I am out a vehicle until monday.  So that sets me back a good while on the Charger.  Oh and to top it off when dad was filling out the paper work for the lost title.  He put in 72' as the year of the car.  So now the title is gonna be wrong.  *sigh*

Yeah I can some what relate to what your sayin man, I just gone through a relationship delema. Now living on my own and things sometimes get alittle tight.

And way these DAMN gas prices are IT DOESN'T help all that much either!  I'm just glad I have a charger that I call a real charger! :yesnod:
Maybe I'll be able to get er running this year And make plans on getting er painted  :-\

Matt, my charger delay might be permanent. I am getting the big "D". I might just loose the thing. you have a delay. My dream might be dead. Chin up mister. You will get through it. A couple of months is just a longer wait for a car that is cared for. The car probably thanks God you are its owner and is keeping it out of the big junk yard in the sky. Push on. You will succeed.
If it ain't wide open; it ain't running.        Rule number one in motocross racing: Pin it; row the gear box; and wait until you hit something.     At work my motto is: If you need me, call someone else.

Don't let it bother you. Hell, I'm on a limited budget, and I can only do so much at one time. What has taken me 2 years to do, most guys here would of done it in one or two weeks. Just keep doing what you can, a little here, a little there. It all adds up and eventually, you'll be driving it. I bought my Charger in 2003. And IF everything goes well, I will be driving it in a few months, even though, it will still look like you see it in my sig. pictures. And all I need to do to it to get it running is mount the carb and carb linkage, hook up new power steering lines, add coolent, gas, and buy a new battery. Would of been done next week, but today I finally bought a rust free trunk floor out of Wyoming. My trunk floor is the only major rusted area on my car cause there was a rug in the trunk and the seals leaked. So the wet rug ate my trunk floor.

My Dad taught me about TIME TRAVEL.
"If you don't straighten up, I'm going to knock you into the middle of next week!" :P

Keep your chin up man, things will get better. Better your truck than your charger.
Hey Deputy, do you have a good friend? One that will do a special favor, buy your car cheap and sell it back after the big D. It's a thought.
Nothing personal, just business

Magnum,
Sorry to hear that, keep pushin and it will come together.  Could be worse things in life but hang in there.

Sorry for your situation as well.  I thought the same thing that red 72 did.  Sell it to a friend for peanuts and then buy it back when the smoke clears.  You are the law so I won't pretend to know what you most likely already do.  If the car is tied up in the divorce somewhere, that might not be an option.  If you are in the position as to giving half or whatever to your soon to be ex it may prove difficult if she knows the cars worth, etc... but if she doesn't, you can sell it for a couple hundred bucks to a buddy, give her the money and then in a little while get it back.

Of course this is all null if she specifies she wants the car in the divorce decree. :rotz:

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

Not too add salt to the injury, but I was reading the new Mopar Action mag story about the two Daytona's.  Apparently, this husband bought a Daytona while still married and later ended up getting the big "D."  Out of spite, the lady kept the Daytona.  I guess they know where to hit you when things aren't so cherry anymore.

There was a General Lee driving around here quite a few years ago, I was about 17 at the time.  It passed us one night around 2 AM and pulled into an apartment complex parking lot.  None of us had ever seen a GL in person, so we turned around to go ask if we could have a better look.  We got quite a suprise.  A woman got out.... and she wasnt wearing much at all.   First thing she did was pour out her beer onto the ground.  I would have sworn she was a stripper...   Anyways she just blew it off like we werent even there, said "Look at the car all you want, im going to bed."  Come to find out later that she ended up with the car in a divorce, hated the car, got tired of all the attention, and sold it less than a year later.   :slap:
