It looks like it might need a different tailshaft to me but im not sure.

I think its an optical illusion from the way the pics were taken. That looks to be a B-body '66-69 trans. Its not an A-body as they have different shifter location and mount location then the one in the pic. Ask him to measure it from the bellhousing to the tail, it should be about 30" long if its a B-body, good luck.
