If it is something you have never done, I would not reccomend it. If it is not setup correctly, the gears will start grinding pretty quick. Then it could cost you more money for a new pig, housing or both.

I refuse to rebuild mine so I tend to agree with the masses here.
Never know until you try.
I will eventually tear apart my pig that I'm going to replace and try to set it right back up just to gain the experience but I already have another chunk ready to stuff in there.
You can really goof stuff up though and it would be costly to have to replace it.
I would think you could rebuild the cluth type SG yourself though.

At least read this.

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

On my dad's advice, I had mine done professionaly, and I dont regret it.  I know someone who does know how to do it, and they gave me a quick run through that involved a lot of tweaking and watching how fluid splashes off the ring and yeah, sounded like a pretty exact science to me.  I bought my 4.10's brand made by Strange for $215 if I remember right.
