Hey guys,

I'm running an electric fuel pump..electric fan..electric exhaust cut outs..and an msd 6al box..power steering but no power brakes. what amp alternator should i use? will 90 amp be good? i heard denso has a good amp. will i fry my wiring harness with 90 or a hundred amps? thanks!

You can upgrade your own alt up to 105 amps

anyway  without A/C and with MSD6 ignition system any 80-90 amps alt will go good even with halogen or any beams upgraded. I would go for a little bit more if you are combining A/C and any ignition system beside the OEM one. I'm running a STOCK ( not upgraded ) lates 70s Mopar alt that drives around 80-90 and everything is perfect with stock electronic ignition system, halogen beams and A/C.

Upgrade the wiring with parallel heavier wires trought firewall up to amm if you want to keep working the stock amm gauge OR run a heavier wire up to starter relay if you don't care amm reading will be a mandatory to carry the extra load

but as member DKN as stated, denso is a nice upgrade too

PS: WTH is "electric exhaust cut outs" ?

REMEMBER... WIRING UPGRADE IS MANDATORY or will be melted down at bulkhead connector

Im useing the 98 dodge ram 130 amp alt with no problems. I used a march serpanten belt system to turn it. I talked to some old "wise" man at an alt repair shop who walked me throw the wireing, basicly I had to use the orgnal 68 voltage regulator to make it work. I ran 1 gauge battery wire from the alt to the starter relay ( on fire wall ) from there same wire to the pos battery. I also by passed the factory amp meter so It dosent melt down.

Hi Mike,
I know this is a reply to an old post..but can you tell me how to bypass the amp meter so it does'nt melt down?

myk

I'm assuming that you just disconnect the leads to the 'meter and then connect them together?
