Been lots of bantering about engines/combos over the past while.
That's all fine and dandy, whatever "floats a persons boat" is just great by me. All the power to everybody with BIG bankbooks.

But, just for shits & giggles, here's a nice "cheap little stroker motor", thats probably more than capable of putting a smile on most guys faces when "ya hit the loud pedal", and, keeping in perspective, costs FAR LESS than many strokers being contemplated by many.

Also keep in mind, without Big Budget AFTERMARKET BLOCKS, just how much power can those stock blocks actually take ?

I do tons of stuff from 500 inch to 572 inch, albeit, all with aftermarket blocks at 800 to 950 H.P.

IMHO, for the stock blocks anyways, stay to under 600 unless you want not "IF" but "WHEN" you stuff is "garbage" exiting stage bottom out the oilpan.

Just how fast ya wanna go ?

pump gas 451 with VERY USEABLE Torque down low, decent horsepower up high, on easily done EDDY heads, with a DRIVEABLE CAMSHAFT that you can actually "toodle around on" in traffic !

Nice #s, i'm guessing its a low-deck combo.

Heres another on the cheapĀ  (total cost about 3500.00 carb to pan including the purchase of the block)

400/451 .030 over
440 steel crank turned down, stock 440 rods with wave lock bolts.
Milidon 7qt pan with windage tray, stock oiling, HV pump
Ross FTs, Z-Gap rings, Clevite bearings, blocked decked, pistons sat .009 below, full balancing
Bone Stock 906s (untouched ports & bowls), new 208/174 stainless valves, 10* locks, 8005A springs, 90cc chambers, .039 1009 gaskets, final comp. 9.73
XE284H 507/510-240/246 @50, 110 LSA
M1 Single, swap meet 750dp, PF MB, 74/82 jets
MP Mollary dizzy, 35* total timing all in at 2200, 1.7/8 hookers
Ductile iron 1.5 rockers, 4.11s, 9.5 PTC 4100 stall

This combo ran 10.91 @ 120.56 on a 1.51 60ft. in mine shaft air.

Changed to a comp custom solid 543/529-250/256 @50 on a 108 LSA
Weiand TR, 2 600 holleys, bowl blended the heads myself) ran a 10.87 @ 123.58 on a 1.61 60ft. in the heat, first & only run with no tuning.

This was at 3100 race weight.

It was more pump gas friendly with the larger cam, but with the iron heads i ran 110 to be safe.
