I'm trying to take apart my driver's side remote mirror. I need to has it re-chromed and need to take it apart.
There seems to be no way to remove the cables from the mirror.
I'm not sure how to remove the three cables from the inside remote control. I don't want to break this since I know they don't repop these.

Wires are located by pressure. You need to open these areas to be able to remove wires. Does need some patiente, but is posible to do it. I have done it.

One of them got a small broken area on one side when I aply  pressure again to fit it but I just used epoxy glue to reattach it.

The hardest part is the brass end of wire THAT'S THE MORE PATIENTE NEEDED... the other part is piece of cake, you need just to get room to release the cover wire and enough gap to wire itself.

Label the red, black and yellow wires on bottom part of joystick ( where the wire covers are ) to be sure when you relocate them do it right and get the matched movement on mirror when you move the joystick.

Thanks Nacho. I figured I'd have to spread open those fingers to remove the wire but figured I should ask first. Never thought about labeling the wires ::) that would have been fun to figure out. I had enough trouble just getting the two phillips head screws out from behind the mirror. One was accessible but for the other one I had to modify a screwdriver to get it.

Do you mean the two screws what attachs the mirror plate assembly ? yes is a pain in the A$$ simply because IS THE MIRROR PLATE itself what does have the hole to pass the screwdriver trought straight to the screw. The best way is try to remove the mirror glass from plate, but I need to find the best glue solvent to don't break the mirror. I'm dealing with that for a passenger side mirror.

BTW just in case, what you need to label is the joysting housing where the colored wire covers are attached, not teh wires, since the wires are already labeled LOL.

The joystick section where is the chromed joystick stick, don't need to be labeled, is a symetric piece.

Well in fact the bottom section is also simetric, but since  the door has a tab to fit the joystick assembly just in one position because assembly does have a notch, if you place wrong the wires, then maybe if you try to get outside the mirror, then glass could move down or to inside.

and TRUST ME whan I mean needs patiente to remove the brass end. Probably in fact you will need to mill down the gap because is a very solid piece even mild. Becarefull you could cut the wire.

twilt

I tried doing all that onetime but gave up. (I don`t have the patience)  BTW,  PG Classic does repro the mirrors now.

if you give me to choose repro against original even needing rechroming... allways will choose Original and send to rechroming shop.

I don't trust on Repro parts. Just 1 year and a half and quarter window felt already broke
