About all I can tell you was that most of those cars were replica's of one Stallone actually owned (I think).  At least that is what I seem to recall.  As for mods, not really sure.  Google it and see what you come up with.

Here found this:   http://www.fast-rewind.com/

I think Hot Rod or Car Craft did a feature on that car (or one of the few they used) about the time that movie was released.
That movie's definitely another example of "the car is the star". :yesnod:

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

The ones they wrecked were clones , but the one they used for 'safe' shots was Sly's.

Did yall know that Sly did Cobra because he was supposed to be in Beverly Hills Cop but got out at the last minute cuz he thought it was too comedic and not enough action?

QuoteWhen Sylvester Stallone was signed to play the lead in Beverly Hills Cop (1984), he did a lot of work on the screenplay, turning it into an action extravaganza that the studio couldn't afford. He eventually left Beverly Hills Cop and channeled his ideas for that project into this movie.

The gun that sly uses at the end is an earlier version of the GG-95 pictured below! Gun people might notice that the gun is built with an angle and not completely straight like any other guns. That is to allow your arm and the gun to be perfectly straight when firing it and absorb more of the recoil into your arm to allow for better shooting.

When I watched it, I wasn't expecting any Oscar winning performances.  It was on television a few weeks back and I enjoyed seeing it again.  Loaded with action and a simple story to follow - sometimes a man needs something like that for entertainment.

As far as the Mercury goes, I also thought it was pretty cool, way back when the movie first came out when I was 17.  Now - ah, not my cup of tea.
