Is there a "correct" pump on 440 69 Charger RT's or would either be correct?  Thanks.

tan top

Saginaw  is the correct pump for a 69 model year  440 .

I assume tan top that you mean that the Saginaw is the correct pump for a 69 440 in a Charger.  Reason I asked is I have a 69 440 out of a New Yorker and it has a Federal pump on it.  Now I don't plan on using this engine in my 69 Charger (for various reasons) but had been planning on using the pump and brackets.  I have a 77 440 out of another New Yorker (being pulled at junkyard as we speak) coming.  Didn't notice if it had a Saginaw pump or not but if the Saginaw is the correct pump, I will need to make sure I have the correct brackets to mount it and get one of those pumps.  I saw on Just69Charger's resto engine compartment picture that he has a Saginaw pump on his car.  I think his block was out of a 73 vehicle-----not sure what kind.  By the way, Just 69, I downloaded that picture and had an associate where I used to work blow it up and print it out on the color plotter.  Then pasted it onto foam core board for backing.  It hangs in the garage and is sort of my inspiration to keep after my restoration project.  I refer to it often.  Thanks for sharing it with us.  You did a great job with your restoration and I have learned a lot from your informative website.

And by the way tan top, thanks for helping me get the pump issue straightened out.

Thanks Just 6T9 for the confirmation on the Saginaw pump.  Although I don't care about numbers matching I do want the engine bay to at least have a generally correct appearance where I can.  This one surprised me as I had thought up to now that either pump had been used but I can see that either was used with the 440 but NOT on Chargers.  An important piece of information to nail down.

Can someone post a picture of the correct Saginaw power steering pump for a 69 charger with 440 4-sp.  I started looking at the pumps for sale and found several styles.  There are two round types with reservoir tube extending upward.  One is rear port and one is side port.  And there is a third style I found on 76 and 77 New Yorkers that is a teardrop shape.

My Charger with 318 was equipped with power steering and has the original pump.  It'a a Saginaw round body with oval tube extending upward changing over to a round shape with a cap on end (cap is not plastic but metal and looks like a radiator cap).  It is identical to the ACDELCO Remanufactured part number 36-716122.  Is this the correct pump for a 440 Charger?  And what do the correct big block mounting brackets look like?  What is the correct diameter of the power steering pump pulley on a big block.  ( By the way----I have a 69 440 engine out of a new yorker on a stand in the garage and it is equipped with a Federal pump so I know what they look like).  Thanks.
