No oil on left side

I have the motor (318) all assembled and I'm priming the oil pump but I'm not getting any oil on the left side head. Lots of oil everywhere else. I plan to take the head off but it was getting late so I'll do it tomorrow. Thought I might post up here for your thoughts. I'm thinking the head gasket must be stopping it. I think the head gasket can only go on one way due to the stud locations being different at each end so I'm a little puzzled. Next question: will it be necessary to get a new head gasket if I remove the head to find the problem? Or can it be reused?

The solution is MUCH simpler. turn the engine over a half turn. Now you will be oiling the left side, but (probably) not the right. The engine only delivers oil to the heads in a staggered manner so as not to flood the heads and create a situation where there is to much oil on the top end (can cause smoke, oil in the cylinders, and high oil consumption).

I hope you didn't take it apart yet.

A few ?'s. Did you install new cam bearings, if so were they done correctly. Are the rocker shafts installed with the notch facing front on the DS and facing rear on the PS. Sounds like one of these 2 problems to me. DON"T remove the head just yet or you will need a new gasket, check this stuff out first, good luck.
