I'm thinking of doing away with the breather hose to the air cleaner and just putting one of those breathers on the valve cover that look like a miniature K&N filter.  Any down side to doing this?  Thanks, Bob

I don't have a specific answer to that question but I noticed a big difference when I took my valve cover filters off and returned to the PCV to my carb. I feel the extra vacuum created helps seal the rings. I went from blue smoke crossing the finish line to no noticable smoke and dropped almost a tenth in the quarter mile. You might be able to get rid of the air cleaner filter hose but stay with the PVC system. I hope this helps.

Hey Bob, there's no problem eliminating the hose between the breather and air cleaner assembly. I just run dual breathers on mine with no pcv valve, or if you're running a pcv valve you can also use the open style K&N breather on the opposite side of the pcv.

A friend of mine was trying to describe a PCV system that had PCV on both sides, that tee into the intake, but couldn't find a picture.  My car currently has PCV on the passenger side, and a breather on the other (but the caps are old and leak at the seams, so I need to replace them).

What is the advantage of having PCV on one side and breather on the other, vs PCV on both?

Thanks guys, I've got the pvc valve to carb setup on the passenger side.  The big breather hose on the drivers side has always been kind of an eyesore to me.  Glad to here I can get rid of it.  Bob

I realize now that what I thought was the pcv valve is actually the breather. How do I remove that to check the filter inside?

It's just a slip on affair.  Pull up on it and it should come off of the valve cover.

Those breather caps might not release as much pressure as the hose going into your aircleaner from your valve cover does.   You may have oil pushed out of the breather cap through the filter material inside of it, or might make pressure and cause slight leaking around valve covers.

Why would you want anything else?  Just give me a Charger and I'll be happy.

The purpose of a pcv system is to help eliminate  internal crankcase pressure caused by a combination of the downward stroke of the piston/rod assy and cylinder blowby.

Putting 2 pcv's in is not a good idea. A  pcv pulls crancase pressure into the intake on one side and it HAS to have fresh air coming in from somewhere externally - hence the breather on the opposite  side.
Eliminating the pcv altogether will just cause it to build so much internal pressure it WILL start leaking at he seams, trust me you have to have some kind of positive crancase pressure evacuation
