How to fill a bullet hole?

Someone shot my car with a .22 at some point and it has a hole in the door.
I'm not really sure how to fix it. I was thinking of welding in a small circle of metal but the hole is so small I think I'd just end up with a warped mess. The bead would probably end up larger than the are being repaired and I'm afraid the heat would do more damage than I'd be fixing.

For you experienced body men out there, how would you go about this?

Yeah, I could make up a story like the cops were after me like in Vanishing Point or something and walk with a limp.

I'd rather have a nice smooth door though.

  if it was mine i would , first get a helper to hold a flat dolly over the out side while pressing against the door , then tap the hole back togeather as best as you can from the inside .. a bit of a body file , weld up the gaps ,  grind the weld ,      then a  skim of bondo , be care full when welding & grinding  as metal is thin gauge & can easly warp

do as tan top says, close it up with a hammer and dolly, but then you could bridge it with a bit of chopped strand{resin glass mixed} then skim, i would also, finish it with a stopper too as it is right in the middle of the panel,looks like you will have to repaint as,    well, you want to catch them and stick the rifle were the sun dont shine mate..jim

I Agree with Tan Top. I'd Mig Weld unless you like to Tig instead. Dont braze, to much heat. After welding dab with wet spong or squirt cold water on it to help prevent warpage. Just my opinion, others may vary. LEON.

Tig = foreign language to me and mig is beginner class for me as it is. We made my trailer last summer but I still have little experience on the light stuff.

dolly it out with a dolly and then put a brass backer (ive got a few just to weld up holes) and have it on back side. Weld it up front front, letting it cool off. Grind it off and fill, prime, paint as needed

i agree weld is better all round, but glass is fine as well when used properly,just a reminder, that once you  apply  heat remember to clean prime and paint the back of the panel, i know its fairly obvious, but we can forget sometimes...jim

Like Silver said if you hold a piece of brass (or copper) behind the hole as you weld it will help to fill in the hole. The weld won't stick to the brass.

As others have said... hammer and dolly, weld in the remaining hole, slowly grind the weld down, cool it down, fill it, sand. Done!

in all actuallity you really should not dolly a bullit hole the metal is stretched from the bullit tearing thru the metal i filled 2 bullit holes on my rr clone convert and i cleaned the hole real good and welded it slowly as is and when i was just done welding it went pop and was almost perfectly leval , i just ground it epoxy primed it and then a light coat of duraglass and a skim of body filler and it was done.

what about weld a .22 bullet in to the hole ? sure will be the perfect filler

Welding a Washer in a hole fills a big hole gap pretty quick. Works for me LEON.

Just curious if it went all the way through? Any other damage to the car from the bullet?

very easy to fix.  I would fill it in with a mig welder.  First, you have to place a piece of copper behind the hole.  I use a copper pipe from the hardware store and bang it flat.  Have a buddy hold it in place behind the hole.  Then, you weld it.  The weld wont stick to the copper.  I fixed a bullet hole on my 68 torino doing this method.  good luck

Through the door panel and also the inner steel by the crank but apparently hit something else or lost it's energy since I can't see anything else past that point.
Maybe a person ?? Ooh...a crime mystery!
