How much do lug nuts cost anyways?

Today I took the Navigator in for an oil change and wheel rotation and walked out $118.30 lighter!

It seems that none of us ever noticed but someone put the wrong lug nuts on the vehicle and they were damaging the wheels and not holding them tight. This was also a severe safety hazard.
The replacement factory style lug nuts cost $3.50 each!
I've heard of bigger truck lug nuts on Alcoa wheels costing $5.00 each but whatever happened to $1.00 car lug nuts?? Am I just out of touch?
It seems like $70.00 or so for lug nuts is quite a bit.

I'm sorry,  without a picture it's hard to say what they are worth.    You need to show us your nuts.      I'm sorry, I just had to say that.  If they are special nuts for only so many cars then I could see it being that much or more.     Chuck..................

My nuts are very, very special and have a unique twist to them but hopefully not of any interest to anyone in here.
Somehow I knew that joke had to come up, we made a few at the shop.


The cost to fill is 30 gallons x whatever gas is costing but I rarely fill it up anymore since gas prices fluctuate so much. I'm guessing there is more than idle curiosity to that?

I intended for the gas cost to be a comparison to the lug nut prices....nothing is cheap anymore

Yep good point except that I bought it as-is and in Denver ( I'm in Utah). Everything here was $5k more!
For the price I got them down to they would not be pleased to hear me complain 

I just paid the price and keep on truckin' but it just seems a tad high. Maybe it's cuz I'd rather spend the $$ on the Charger and I keep laying out money for dumb things like the house and daily driven cars!

For the cost of a tank I got lug nuts so I just won't drive for a while.

I do all of our cars maintenance myself, SAVE a lot of money

I used to do it all and still do my brakes since I don't want anyone else doing them but now I'm feeing old and my aches catch up with me so I'd rather pay for things like work on the Navigator and then I do the work on the Mopars and boat. Then I can bitch about the price of lug nuts.
Not enough time and not enough me to work on all of the cars myself.

Lug nuts for my pickup are $8 each.  They're $10 each if you want to get them from Ford.  Multiply that by 8 on each wheel and it gets pricey.
