What purpose do the square holes under the Daytona nose serve?

Under the nose of the Daytona are two square holes.  What purpose do they serve, and were these holes filled on the record breaking Daytonas of the past?  Thanks

Without them , you will boil your engine . What happens at highway speed is on coming air will hit the spoiler and be pushed into those openings . It would make sense to close them up for a 200 mph run , Let me know when you plan to do that , I want to be there !!!!!!!!!!!!

Well Larry, that's part of my plan.  That's why I'll be needing a pair of those A-pillar mouldings.  But, I'll try and remember to let you know.  Should be within 5 years, so don't go away!  I was thinking with a big aluminum radiator with good fans and an electric water pump, I should be able to keep it cool.

Given the cottage industry that wing car reproduction parts are, if they are available, why wait "years" to buy them?  Things can change at a moments notice.   If you buy them, and eventually don't use them, there's always a market for them.

If you add up the square inches of the opening in your fan shroud and the square inches of the three openings in your nose cone they will equal the same.
