When I got home from school today my girlfriend called me and told me there was a Charger parked outside of the store she works at. I grabbed my camera and drove down there, spotting it right off the bat. It looks to me like a '72 or '73, but I don't know my third gens too well. Triple black car too! I've caught a couple glimpses of this one around town before along with a blue '72 and a gold '72-'74, but never seen it parked. An older man drives it and it appears to be pretty original so maybe he even bought it new or used a long time ago. I snapped some pictures as I made the block. I need to get better at my driveby photography skills, but you get the idea. It took a light hit on the driver's side but other than that it's in really nice shape! Are those hubcaps factory?

It's kind of hard to see the hubcaps clearly but they do look like factory ones to me.

That looks like a 74.  Cool car.

73 SE... same one than the one used on "Payback" movie at the end

Only way to tell difference between 73 and 74 with just a view is the shoulder belts hanger around B pillar post area. I can't see that hanger on pics.

Rest differences are just on trunk hump ( of course also the gas tank ), reset button on engine bay and gas tank straps bolted reversed than earliers ( beside the interlock stuff on glove box area )

Aren't the bumper guards a lot different in size between 73 and 74?

mikepmcs

Nice spot.  You have an awesome girlfriend. :METAL:

Oh yes, I fotgott that... 74 are larger to meet with USA regulations. De Luxe ones are larger just on cushion for a while chromed section is the same.

Size differences is more noticeable on rear ones. Anyway pics aren't that clear to notice that difference

Also 73 rear lower braces are straight and use an extra plate to bolt on frame rails for a while 74s are curved to meet directly with frame rails.

BTW it looks that one has installed 75/78 Racing mirror with thicker pedestal bolted from interior, not the right one

Yeah, I apologize for the fuzzy pictures. I mean to talk to the guy if I ever catch him, but so far it's either been seeing him on the Avenue or, like yesterday, seeing the car parked without him in sight. I'd like to talk to him and tell him about the sight/my Charger.

No matter the fuzzie pics, it does look really nice. Beside the mirror it look could it be a trully and complete survivor... and rare hubcaps. I have seen them on Coronets, but not on Chargers. Yes they are factory. PN is 3461467. On Charger just have seen them on advertising pics, but not on a car mounted

trying to detail better the pics it looks does have the shorter bumper guards cushions, so I'm pretty sure now is a 73 SE

Thanks Nacho. Those hubcaps are the exact ones that are on the car. If I get a chance to talk to the guy, I'll ask him about them and if he is the first owner, etc. Do share the pictures after you cleaned them up!

73chgrSE

It looks like my exact opposite. 73 triple white. Same top and louvers.

Just do what I do...

I've created my own little "Dodgecharger.com" business cards and I hand them out to mopar owners at car shows or I sometimes put them underneath the wipers of cars that I can't find the owners off.
