Originally after rewiring we though maybe I had something hooked up wrong. All the wiring was checked and double-checked. We replaced the ignition module and made sure the timing was still good. It is set at about 7 degrees. The car runs fine and revs easily. If you let it sit and idle it will shut off after it warms up. You can restart it and it will run fine and then shut off again after about 2-3 minutes. The new module is missing one of the pins that is in the old one. The wire goes to the 4 pin resistor on the firewall.

You can see the missing one in the pic. Could that be the problem and anyone have an idea why it isn't there?

u should have a 5 pin module with a 4 pin resistor , sounds as if the module is over heating.......u could check the coil to see how many volts it is getting..............or it may be the pickup coil in the distributor.............kim

the 4 pin module will be fine , it just drops the voltage internally instead of through the external resistor

Ballast resistor or the module ? How'd you make out ?
