I was lead to Iternational Title Service from a trusted friend that had used them.  I have used them 2x to get title for abandoned parts cars.  Takes about $150 and a month.  The car will have to be inspected by local law enforcement here, to verify that numbers & VIN match and no funny stuff is going on.  I think it is ITS-titles.com.  There are ways to do it yourself, but from what I understand, that can be a hassle.

I think each state has different rules.  I would start with the secretary of state where you live.   :yesnod:

I just went through this a few months ago.

I used International Title Service   http://www.its-titles.com/index.htm.

No previous paper work.

No inspection by the cops, the tooth fairy or that Damned purple dinosaur on TV.

Total cost, including The fee that International Title Service charges and my state title fees and tax came to $218.

It took about three weeks from the time I sent the form and $ into ITS to get the paperwork back from ITS.

It took about another three weeks to get my title from the state.

I'm in the People's Republic of Illinois...

In Illinois if the car was last registered to you it cost $80 bucks to replace your title.  I have had to do it before.
