i have a original edelbrock torquer sitting on the bench, and have been offered a street dominator, even swap. my question is which one is taller?i am trying to keep the flat hood on my 72 charger, and am worried about the height?any idea of which one will fit easily with a 440?

Not sure about the Torker, but the Street Dominator is only slightly taller than stock. Much better intake for a street/strip application. Take the trade and run.

the Street Dom should be shorter & is a better intake ... Take the Trade now

thanks guys,i was pretty sure that the street dom would be better.i only use the car on the street, with a very occaisanal street dust up,and am going to replace my current 440 with the fresh one that i built using a lot of tips from firefighter :icon_smile_big:my big dilemma has been the intake,as i already have all the pieces to do the fresh motor, last one i was building i ended up selling a week after i got home from carlisle,as a buddy needed one for his car and he knew this one was all done!so im at square one, with a standard bore 68 440 long block, with 904 heads

Andy, both of those manifolds will clear the stock hood. Like the others have said ; the SD is a better manifold but the (old) Torker is no slouch on a mild street motor either.  :yesnod:

Vegas Mike has the original Torker on his e-headed 440 and it made 520+ hp on the dyno.  ;)

See if you can find a set of 452 heads locally....they have the harden exhaust seats for unleaded fuel.

Pretty much the same Andy. The 452's respond really well to mild porting (MP porting templates) at low to mid lifts which is what the engine sees most of the time anyway.  :yesnod: The 452's are usually in the 90cc range on the chamber.

A good valvejob and bowl blend will really wake them up.  ;)
