Well I suppose I'll just have to find a good deal on a lower-geared chunk from Ebay. I doubt I'll be able to get ahold of a suregrip for the kind of money I'm wanting to spend, but surely I can get something better than my tired 2.73 combo.

Cool, so Terrible One and I could get a  Power Lock or Track Lock out of a Dana and use it in a 8 3/4 setup. Hopfully Terrible One is like me where Dana's are all over the place (UT). I will have to start pricing danas with lockers when I get home!

Wait, i don't think that is the case and i didn't mean to imply that.  I really don't know that answer.  But if you can get a dana rear(drum to drum) for cheap why not fab that one in there.

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

I was thinking of that also. One of the Mopar mags did an artical on improving the 8 3/4. one of the thing they did was use (I think) 80s pherd truck berrings (I think because they are self contained) by welding on aftermarket ends. They also used those trick "worm gear" limited slip units, but that is outside of mu budget, for now. I don't see why a similar thing could be done to a Dana 60? TO, sorry if  I am hijacking.

d72hemi, no worries man. I wouldn't call it a hijack at all

Unfortunately, I don't have much of a supply of anything around here scrapyard wise. There's nothing within miles that isn't packed with only 80's and up type stuff. I'm sure what I'll end up doing is just getting a higher geared open chunk. I'll search around here first of course so that I don't get bit in the ass by shipping fees!

If you find something that needs to be shipped, but less than 100 lbs, like a disisembles 8 3/4 rearend, you could have it sent via Grey Hound bus. It can take a day or two longer, but it is cheep! I would not send anything that could break, like a set id 71 tail lights, with a bumper  :flame: .  Other than that I have had good luck with Grey Hound. I will try to hit the junk yard when I get home in March or April, to look for parts, so let me know if you are still looking for a rearend. Most of the yard owners know me, so I get ok deals.

Yeah, the Greyhound thing sounds nice besides the fact that the nearest station is 2 hours away from me.  :rotz:

I appreciate the offer and I'll keep in touch as well as check around down here.
