weird small size and location!.. two knobs off to the left?.. what can possibley go in that location?...
any fixes or replacments  you felas have come up with would be appreciated..

Nacho-RT74

just originals with same knobs location, NO AFTERMARKETS AVAILABLE

All 71-74 and later B bodies no matter if is Mono, Stereo, Dual Mono or Multiplexer ( cassette player pigtail ). AM or AM/FM with all combo variations above.

Some 70-74 E and C bodies for a while they are not thumbwheel kind AND for a while you change the dial face, since is some different ( slightly larger because fills more space on cluster ) as I can recall right now. Also rear bracket stud has different location.

If you get a multiplexer radio ( cassette player pigtail ) you can insert a line in, some like an Ipod, or any external signal, since on wire line in is available. Of course you would need to remove line in/out jumper plug  and make a switch box or kinda to select the Radio signal or exterior signal. That pigtail also drives power so the external device can be feeded by that same pigtail. I'm doing it and will provide diagrams and pics when I have done.

is that a split bench?

I think is this same interior I saved LOOONG time ago, and if so, then you can see clearly the center arm rest, so it must be highback bench with arm rest.

BTW that is not the right wheel since as far I know, 71/74 Tuff wheels are 90 degrees seams, and 75 and laters are baseball seam kind, juts like that one. Not being critic with owner of course, but yes with somebody on the old board that told me is the right one when we talked about that. Juts noticed the seam detail.

THE CHARGER PUNK

1971SE440

I put my Alpine in under dash in my 1971.

Brock Samson

thanks guys!
I still aint decided, so much of this depends on what can be found and fabricated to not hack stuff up...
to do it right takes time, lotsa time..
i remember the old days when we used to just go to it with drills and saws... never a care... ah,.. youth..  :-\

sigh...

I dunno - from sitting in the driver's seat, even the stock location is quite a reach; Putting it under the dash would almost require actually leaning over to get to it, wouldn't it?

Personally, I've seen "ok" rallye dash cluster bezels with broken guages for sub-$100, and switching out the cluster internals is pretty easy, so I just cut it -

and installed one of the old Kenwood 'mask' flip-face stereos, then did a little body filler to smooth it out, then painted it.
That pic is a bit out of date - you can *kinda* see the silver of the metal sleeve the stereo mounts into here, but it's all black now and looks a good bit better.

Personally I would cut it out..... And do a VERY nice job at it.  Resell Value?  Im never going to sell my car.

And hell even if I did, who wants a 40 year old stereo?   And if missing stock stereo is a deal breaker I have bigger

problems than that.

Anyway if you really want to go stealth....

How about this and put it above your visor.

that's pretty awesome - I always thought something like that would be perfect for my car, but I could never find anything other than those crap-tastic RF modulated CD changers.  Still, $450 is pretty steep... but it's definitely a cool option!

Just posted a reply about DIN plug on the other board:

DIN 7 pins conector ( I'm not talking abvout the DIN size radio ) on Original Radio drives power ( + and - ) and line in and outs Audio signals since cassette player was also the selector... SO can be used to insert line in from any audio device and then control volumen on Original Radio, and audio on original speakers... and in fact DIN works also to FEED that external audio device. I'm working on it. Only will need a female DIN plug, laboratory box to install a cigar lighter housing to keep the regular way to feed extarnal devices and normalized mini jack 3.5 mm stereo to keep Radio function "jumped" and cut it automatically when audio device is plugged.

Then no extra Radio FM transmitter device needed.

i'd find one thats already been cut up...i see them on ebay sometimes for around 25-50 bucks...then you can put your good one away
Daddy ran whiskey in a big black dodge
bought it at an auction at the masons lodge,
Johnson County Sherriff painted on the side,
just shot a coat of primer then he looked inside,
well him and my uncle tore that engine down,
I still remember that rumblin' sound.....
